It looks like the future of FileMaker Pro Advanced is not looking good.
Although certain bugs might be getting fixed (finally!), I suggest you make the most of this version (v14) and the next version (v15) for the Advanced version. From v16 onwards, Apple/FileMaker, Inc. plans to remove the External() function from both FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro Advanced. That's right. All those brilliant plug-ins you paid for or compiled yourself to enhance the features of your FileMaker solutions (for doing things like sending and receiving emails, encrypting/decrypting data, uploading/downloading files, manipulating the file directory of your Mac, and so much more) will soon no longer work. Just give it a couple of years before we lose this function.
The company sees the External() function as being too powerful to keep. Instead it prefers a dumbing down of the product (and ultimately at some point have the opportunity to drop the Advanced version altogether when the sales of the product is too low—seriously, the only thing you will enjoy in the Advanced version is creating a Runtime solution, the Design Report, and the ability to view data, but will anyone want to pay over $500 just for these features alone?).
And, more importantly, dropping the External() function will allow the company to dominate the Mac by forcing Mac users to use only Apple apps (the place where Apple will choose which new features it will add and how it will gather data pushed to its servers relating to users and their activities). Well, we certainly can't have FileMaker developers create better and more privacy-protected solutions than what Apple offers, can we?
Oh, how I love Apple!

Star rating shown here is only to encourage Apple to maintain the Advanced product and its External function. If not, I recommend half a star or less.
